Chapter 905: Wind Transformation

The next morning, Qiao Sang quickly washed up, ate breakfast, and brought Yabao and the others to the indoor training ground for practice.

The Beast Center's indoor training ground could be reserved privately, so she didn’t need to worry about interruptions.

She trained until three in the afternoon, then checked the time and set out for Cluster Flower Street.

Once again, flower petals carpeted the ground.

Compared to last night, there were clearly even more.

As expected, no cleanup had been done… Qiao Sang sighed, pulled out her phone, and dialed the number she had saved yesterday.

After several rings, the call connected.

“Hello?”

“It’s me, the one who added your number yesterday.” Qiao Sang introduced herself.

“I know, I know.” The woman replied.

“Is there something you need?”

“I noticed the petals on Cluster Flower Street still haven’t been cleared. I just wanted to ask if something held things up?” Qiao Sang asked tactfully.

The woman was silent for a moment, then sighed.

“The Scent-Eater Ants simply refuse to do it. Two of them even ran off earlier today, we only just brought them back.”

“If the Scent-Eater Ants continue to refuse, how will you handle it?” Qiao Sang pressed.

“That depends on how our superiors arrange it.” The woman said.

“I’m just a caretaker.”

After thinking briefly, Qiao Sang said, “Could you send me the address of your beast base?”

The woman froze, then her tone turned almost excited.

“Alright! I’ll send it right now!”

Qiao Sang hung up, opened the message, and navigated to the address.

---

Huantian Qiyang District Beast Base.

After hanging up, the woman looked quite cheerful.

“Who was that?” Her coworker asked.

“A Beast Master who took the Cluster Flower Street task.” She replied.

“Why are you so happy about that?” The coworker frowned.

Tasks like this usually made life difficult for low-level staff like them. Not only were they pressured by higher-ups, but now a Beast Master was specifically sent to check up on them, as if they weren’t doing their jobs.

“You don’t get it.” The woman whispered mysteriously.

“She has a fire-type beast with red, flame-covered wings.”

Her coworker gave her a blank look.

“So what?”

The woman hinted, “Don’t you think that sounds just like someone famous online right now?”

The coworker didn’t want to think.

“Who?”

The woman gave her a how-do-you-not-know-this look.

“Qing qing Ni’s Beast Master! She has a beast exactly like that.”

The coworker paused, then snorted.

“You’re overthinking. Sure, beasts like that are rare, but they’re not unique. I could name a few right now.”

The woman, however, insisted.

“Trust me. That beast looked exactly like the one in the leaked pictures online. People already tracked it down, it’s a Fire Qilu from Yuhua District, apparently a brand-new form. The internet says only one exists, no known evolution path, just one. If there’s only one, then aside from Qingqing Ni’s Beast Master, who else could it be?”

The coworker looked half-convinced, but still skeptical.

“Some Beast Masters contract shapeshifters to get attention. They make them transform into rare beasts just to show off, you know.”

The woman shook her head, resolute.

“You’ll see when she arrives.”

Just as she said this, another colleague walked over.

“Zhao Xin, someone’s here to see you. Says she just called you.”

At that, Zhao Xin and her coworker exchanged wide-eyed glances. So fast?!

“Hello, do you have time now?” Qiao Sang stepped out from behind the guide, carrying Yabao in her arms.

This beast base was only 6.2 kilometers from Cluster Flower Street, within Little Treasure’s teleportation range. Unfortunately, Little Treasure had mis-teleported directly into the building. Thankfully, a nearby staff member noticed and guided her here.

Zhao Xin quickly composed her expression.

“Yes!”

Her coworker stared at Yabao for a long moment, then eagerly stepped forward.

“I have time too!”

Qiao Sang blinked, puzzled by their overly enthusiastic attitude. She wasn’t here to buy a beast.

Seeing her confusion, Zhao Xin hurriedly explained.

“She’s a caretaker too, works with the Scent-Eater Ants.”

Qiao Sang turned toward the short-haired caretaker, who immediately smiled warmly

The guide left, seeing he was no longer needed.

Having more people wasn’t bad… Qiao Sang nodded.

“Then I’ll trouble you both.”

“No trouble at all!” The short-haired caretaker said quickly, striding up to her.

“I’ll take you to see the Cluster Flower Street Scent-Eater Ants. The issue isn’t too complicated, the leader ant has been protesting, and the rest followed. If we solve the leader’s problem, the rest will cooperate.”

“But the leader ant is stubborn, hard to persuade.”

She continued: “That said, we could also use flying beasts or wind-type beasts with strong skills to blow all the petals into one place. Then have some Lala Ash eat the rotten ones. Once that’s done, the ants will happily eat the fresh petals that fall each day.”

Lala Ash were beasts that thrived in trash, eating and decomposing it. Great for cleanup jobs, but they smelled terrible, even their breath stank, so they weren’t suited for city streets.

The short-haired caretaker kept rambling.

And she told me I was overthinking earlier… Zhao Xin thought, remembering their earlier chat, feeling a bit speechless.

The three arrived at the Scent-Eater Ant enclosure.

The ants spotted their caretakers and immediately turned away, silently keeping their distance.

“They don’t want to go to Cluster Flower Street right now, so this is how they act.” Zhao Xin explained.

“That one’s the leader.” The short-haired caretaker pointed at a larger ant chewing on an energy pellet.

Compared to the others, it was noticeably bigger.

“Xixian…”

Sensing their stares, the ant turned, glanced at them, then deliberately turned its rear toward them and kept eating.

Qiao Sang: …

Yeah… definitely stubborn.

“You see the problem.” The short-haired caretaker sighed.

“That’s why I think my second idea is easier. We already submitted it, but…”

“But what?” Qiao Sang prompted.

Zhao Xin explained,

“Cluster Flower Street doesn’t allow Lala Ash to work before midnight. But those beasts usually sleep around ten. That’s fixable, just use some Awakening Powder.

“The real issue is moving all the petals into one spot. We’d need wind-type beasts with powerful, precise skills.

“Our base only has beginner and intermediate flyers, we’d need a large group. But the flying beast base won’t approve it. Their staff says their beasts are still too young and hard to manage in bulk, so the request’s been stalled.”

She added, “Eventually it’ll be solved, our superiors won’t ignore it.”

The problem is, 'eventually' is way too late for me… Qiao Sang thought, then asked: “Would it harm the ants to eat rotten petals?”

“Of course not.” The short-haired caretaker said.

“We’d never let them eat something dangerous. They’re called Scent-Eaters, but really, they can eat any plant, they just prefer fragrant ones.”

Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up.

If there was no harm, maybe she could use Lubao’s Healing Soundwave to calm the ants, and then they’d eat the petals…

But Zhao Xin suddenly said, “We actually tried the first solution. But the leader ant was too stubborn. I even borrowed a Lingling Mind to purify them mentally. It worked, they went to eat the petals but after five minutes, the effect faded, and they became even more resistant.”

Qiao Sang immediately abandoned her idea.

So what then, just wait?

Gangbao could use Gale to blow the petals, but Gale was hard to control. It would damage the nearby trees too

Qingbao had Tailwind, but its range was tiny, covering two kilometers of street would take days.

Besides, Qingbao was still only a beginner beast.

As she thought, the short-haired caretaker probed: “Do you have any flying beasts with wind-type skills?”

Qiao Sang nodded.

“Yes, but only Gale, it’s hard to control.”

The caretaker tried again: “What about a fairy-type beast?”

Qiao Sang looked at her.

Zhao Xin tugged her coworker’s sleeve.

But the short-haired caretaker stopped pretending, her eyes gleaming.

“I know you’re Qingqing Ni’s Beast Master. I don’t mean anything bad, just trying to help you finish your task faster.”

Qiao Sang recalled her first task after contracting Qingbao. Suddenly it clicked.

“You mean… use Qingqing Ni to persuade the flying beast base staff?”

I was right! Zhao Xin’s eyes lit up.

The short-haired caretaker froze, then blurted, “He’s not worthy!”

Realizing what she said, she coughed to cover it.

“No, I mean, Qingqing Ni is the Child of Wind. With it around, the wind follows its will. You can use it to gather all the petals. Then we just bring the Lala Ash over.”

She gave Zhao Xin a look.

Zhao Xin quickly played along.

“Exactly. That base director could easily approve, but he keeps stalling. If he knew you had Qingqing Ni, he might demand to touch or kiss it or something outrageous.

“The Lala Ash caretakers, though, are reasonable. If you agree, we could bring them tonight at midnight.”

“Definitely possible!” The short-haired caretaker added.

Qiao Sang fell silent.

It seemed like people here were exaggerating Qingbao’s abilities. Qingbao was still a beginner beast, even if it was the Child of Wind, at most it meant full talent in wind skills. Perfect wind control wouldn’t come until much later, as a Wind God Cloud.

“Do you have concerns?” The caretaker asked.

“Qing qing Ni is still just a beginner.” Qiao Sang said gently.

Zhao Xin blinked, remembering something she’d read online. Carefully, she asked, “You’re not from our Central Hollow Region, are you?”

“No.” Qiao Sang nodded.

“No wonder.” The caretaker said knowingly.

“You may not fully understand what ‘Child of Wind’ means.”

Qiao Sang gestured for her to explain.

“Qingqing Ni is born with the ability of Wind Transformation. It can move through any wind, and make the wind act according to its will.”

She quickly added, as if afraid Qiao Sang wouldn’t believe her: “It’s true, it’s even written in books!”

Qiao Sang was silent for a few seconds.

She recalled Qingbao’s maxed-out Wind Transformation trait.

Could it really mean not just moving through wind, but also controlling it perfectly?

After some thought, she said, “Let me think. I’ll contact you later.”

Zhao Xin nodded eagerly. “Alright!”

The caretaker’s eyes lit up. “We’ll be waiting!”

---

That evening, 7 p.m.

Beast Center. Indoor training ground.

“Qing qing.”

Qingbao puffed up her cheeks, and a breeze immediately stirred.

“Try to make it stronger.” Qiao Sang instructed.

Qingbao kept puffing her cheeks, face turning slightly red from the effort.

The wind grew a bit stronger but only slightly.

Still limited by energy. It couldn’t just will the wind to grow stronger… Qiao Sang analyzed. Then, a thought struck her. She turned to Gangbao.

“Use Gale.”

If Qingbao truly had Wind Transformation…

“Gang Zhan.” Gangbao flew to the ceiling and flapped her wings forcefully.

A wild gale surged, dust flying, windows rattling.

Qiao Sang looked at Qingbao.

“Enter it, see if you can control it!”

“Qing qing!”

Eyes gleaming with excitement, Qingbao didn’t hesitate. She transformed into wind and shot into the raging gale.

The storm raged, then, as if seized by another power, it twisted upward, spiraling into a small tornado.

The tornado grew larger, then slowly dispersed.

“Qing qing~”

Qingbao reappeared, smiling proudly, and chirped as if to say it was easy.

Holy crap.

It really worked!

Qiao Sang was stunned. She’d never imagined Wind Transformation had such a heaven-defying function.

If so, wouldn’t Qingbao be untouchable against wind skills in the future?!

After a brief moment of shock, delight surged through her. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Zhao Xin.

“Hello?” Zhao Xin’s voice came through the speaker.

“Tonight at midnight, I’ll meet you at Cluster Flower Street!”
